Should makeup be natural or crazy for a MODEL COMP CARD? i refused photoshoot!?!??!?

i signed with a small agency who told me i would need to pay for my own marketing material (comp card). that is fine because they got me a few jobs which i worked in compensation for the comp card.

so the ';makeup artist'; comes and made me look absolutely crazy. i had foundation caked everywhere. i told her before she started that i have HAZEL eyes and they don't look good with BLUE eyeshadows. but she ended up giving me this blackish blue anyway. it look so crazy and my eyes were all longish cateyes. i just thought that makeup should look pretty much natural for the comp card since that is what photographers will look at to see my natural beauty and if they want to hire me. how would they be able to tell what i look like with all of that JUNK???

so i told the agent and the photographer i wasn't comfortable doing the photoshoot. that i looked like a clown. i knew my discomfort would reflect in the photos. i asked to reschedule (I WAS PAYING FOR IT ANYWAY) needless to say they were rude and very upset. it was all very unprofessional as they agrued with me. (the makeup artist was the agents friend). either way it was terrible. i wanted my pics to look great and represent me. not a clown.

so was i wrong for expressing my discomfort? and should makeup be that extravagent on a models comp card?Should makeup be natural or crazy for a MODEL COMP CARD? i refused photoshoot!?!??!?
any modeling agency that requires you to pay for your own materials is a scam; a reputable agency will pay for everything to get you started, because they make the money back when you start booking work.

don't give up on modeling... for now, quit your scam agency and start doing go-sees. you can also post your pictures on models.com, a site that many large and reputable agencies use to find new talent. GOOD LUCK!Should makeup be natural or crazy for a MODEL COMP CARD? i refused photoshoot!?!??!?
Your comp card should only have natural makeup. Even if you were paying for your comp card, your agent should have been on the set with you to direct the makeup artist and stylist.

I would find a different photographer and makeup artist. Bring examples of other comp cards from your agency to show the makeup artist before you start. Ask your agent to give you copies of the comp cards she thinks are best.
Was it a ';high fashion'; photoshoot? That would be the only explanation for the whole look you had.

But really, if you're starting out, your look should be natural, models are models so they can display products/outfits/makeup. You can't really do that very well if you're caked in make up.

You did the right thing.
No, you were right. You didn't feel right in that shoot, so you shouldn't have to do it.

And make up for cards should be natural in my opinion. You should be able to portray your beauty without caking on tons of eye shadow and such.

Not that that's always terrible, but not for the card, you know?
i totally agree with you.. i don't know too much about models and this comp card business but from what i've learned from america's next top model (lmao) is that they should show your pure natural beauty. and if you were to wear any makeup that it'd be light and no drastic colours.
I think that's perfectly reasonable. It is /your/ comp card. It should make you look good, and if you don't like it, feel free to refuse.
You are true i think a true real model should be a model wearing very little makeup as possible because if she needs makeup to be a model how is she one ,And i would advise you to find a more professional agency because to me they sound very unprofessional and rude they need to consider how you feel especially if your paying for it or just ask for another make up artist :) hope i helped
