like i see in picturesDuring the history did people wear makeup?
Among the more famous: ancient Egyptians (who wore eye makeup,
especially), Romans (particularly homosexuals), Celtic warriors (who
went into battle covered in blue ';woad';), Elizabethans (who used
makeup to cover smallpox scars, etc.), Victorian ladies (who wanted
to disguise the fact that they'd ever been out in the sun).
Note: ';opheliadrownd'; should have written ';18th'; century.During the history did people wear makeup?
yes people did wear makeup throughout history. it held different connotations depending on what point in history you're talking about. during the 17th century it was common for both men and women to wear white face paint and rouge as well as painting 'beauty marks' on their skin. during other periods in time it was considered 'loose' for women to wear makeup and usually only prostitutes wore cosmetics openly (other women did it discreetly). it didn't become commonplace and socially acceptable for women to obviously wear makeup as part of their daily routine until the 20th century.
Many Romans would powder their faces with lead to cover blemishes. They also used lead pipes to run water through.
Not hard to understand why so many Romans were crazy and stupid.
